LOCTITE 518 is a general purpose, medium strength joint former offering excellent tolerance to light contamination. LOCTITE® 518 cures in the absence of air between mating metal surfaces. It is resistant to low pressures immediately after flange assembly. LOCTITE518 is capable of filling gaps down to 0.25mm and forms a flexible, chemical resistant seal that will not crack or deteriorate. Parts can be easily disassembled, even after a long period of time. Typical applications include the sealing of fitted joints between rigid metal surfaces and flanges. It is commonly used as a gasket formed in situ on rigid flange connections, e.g. in gearboxes and engine crankcases.
